Chong Wei booked his place in the final first, after he beat China's Chen Long 21-13, 21-14. The Malaysian looked to have his form back in place after an injury scare that almost kept him out of the tournament, and never let Chen Long control any part of the match at any time.
In the other semi-final match, Lin Dan too never let Il Lee Hyun anywhere near having too much of an advantage over him, and won the match 12-21, 10-21.
