Minor YouTube star and former child actor Amos Yee was arrested on 30 March 2015, following the uploading of a video on YouTube critical of former Prime Minister of Singapore Lee Kuan Yew who had recently died. Yee was charged with violating laws which prohibit "deliberate intention of wounding the religious or racial feelings" and for engaging in "threatening, abusive or insulting communication" prohibited by Singapore's Harassment Act.

Yee was charged with violating laws which prohibit "deliberate intention of wounding the religious or racial feelings" and for engaging in "threatening, abusive or insulting communication" prohibited by Singapore's Harassment Act.
Yee publishing an 8-minute video on YouTube entitled "Lee Kuan Yew is Finally Dead", in which he lambasted Lee's censorship and authoritarianism, and the fear he instilled in his detractors. He further compared Lee to Jesus Christ, in that they were "both power-hungry and malicious but deceive others into thinking they are both compassionate and kind". The video was later taken down but was reposted.Yee was arrested for allegedly committing defamation, being in violation of the sedition act, and deliberately intending to wound religious feelings.
Twenty police reports were filed against Yee. One complainant believed that the line separating freedom and offence had been crossed; Yee's mother too reportedly filed a police report against him because she was unable to control her son's behaviour.
Before the video was removed on Sunday 29 March it had been viewed 600,000 times.Prior to his arrest, Yee decided not to continue with post-secondary education and declared an intent "to pursue (a) career as a 17-year-old boy ranting in front of a video camera. Yee was charged with violating laws which prohibit "deliberate intention of wounding the religious or racial feelings" and for engaging in "threatening, abusive or insulting communication" prohibited by Singapore's Harassment Act.
Yee was released on bail on condition that he will not communicate with social media while his criminal case is ongoing.
Amos Pang Sang Yee was formerly a student of Zhonghua Secondary School.
Yee was previously criticised for a video where he satirised the Chinese New Year.
He had a minor role in Jack Neo's 2012 film We Not Naughty, playing the American-accented younger brother of a teenage loanshark (played by Joshua Ang).
