伏羲创造出八个代表大自然规律的卦象之后，就开始思考这八个卦象应该如何排列。传说伏­羲坐在一个高台只之上，仰观天文，俯察地理，思索多日，根据什么地形来分配八卦的位置­，终于画出了伏羲先天八卦图。（百家讲坛2009年第284期）

伏羲

伏羲自古以来被奉为华夏文明的人文始祖，同时在神话中，也被认为是所有人类的祖先，伏羲是三皇之一，徙治陈仓，定都于陈宛丘（今河南淮阳），以“龙”为图腾，風姓是中国传说时代伏羲的姓^[2][3]。

一说太昊是伏羲，一说太昊并非是伏羲，只是姓氏为伏羲氏，这是误把太昊其所在的伏羲氏族部落当成了先祖伏羲，太昊以玄鸟为图腾。

相传伏羲教民结网，渔猎畜牧，制造八卦等，亦传说伏羲创文字、古琴。

传说伏羲坐于方坛之上，听八风之气，乃做八卦。八卦衍生《易经》，开華夏文明。近代之靈籤或掷杯，实是《易经》之简化版。因其製造八卦，人奉之為神，尊其為八卦祖師。

另有一說，伏羲即盘古氏^[4]。學者以文字學的角度考証盘古氏，“盘”字古义为开端，“古”即葫芦，寓意生命繁衍。黃帝部落興起，炎帝、蚩尤等部落的一部分从黄河流域迁徙到南方以后，其先祖伏羲在传说中演变为盘古，流传于南方少数民族当中，演变出「盘古开天」的传说。
