出生於澎湖一個偏遠漁村的許旭昇,9歲全家搬到高雄定居,這個童年只能吃地瓜粥糊口的小男孩,小時候的夢想竟是一碗熱騰騰的白米飯。由於家中經濟貧困,許旭昇從小就懂得幫忙分擔家計,幼年的他曾經許下一個心願,長大一定要努力工作,讓辛苦了一輩子的父母親享福,讓對自己寄予厚望的父親以兒子為榮。

為了多賺一些錢,高中時期許旭昇便開始當吧台師傅,每天辛勤工作16小時;雖然老闆對他認真負責、任勞任怨的態度讚譽有加,但他心裡卻明白那裡不是久留之地,因為整天都和一群「鬼」混在一起,不是酒鬼,就是賭鬼、色鬼……。他經常問自己:「難道我一輩子都要低人一等?」然而日子一天天過去,幸運之神始終沒有降臨,他的夢想也越來越遙遠……

Amway One By One - Where Life Gets Better Part 10.A very happy birthday.What better way to celebrate your birthday than to give gifts to others!Amway of Australia is celebrating its 40th birthday by offering $100,000 AUS in funding to help children. The funding can be for new projects or to scale up existing projects.Recipients will be charitable organizations registered in Australia that are nominated for one of five $20,000 grants by an Amway employee or distributor. The recipient programs will demonstrate certain aspects of impact, including the engagement of volunteers and the focus on children’s issues.Amway of Australia has been a strong supporter of the Amway One by One Campaign. They have provided close to $1 million to help children with disabilities ride a bike for the first time. To date, more than 1,000 modified bicycles have been built and donated by Amway and its distributors and employees in Australia.

Amway received a manufacturing license in Vietnam in June 2006. In June 2005, after a successful launch of the Russian Market, Alticor President Doug DeVos stated that Vietnam would be the next new market opened by Amway. In November 2007 it was announced that Sponsor meetings would begin at the end of February, 2008 and product sales from March 5, 2008.

On November 1, 2007, Vietnamese news website Thanh Nien News announced that Amway had opened a factory in Dong Nai Province and would begin selling in that province in 2008. Amway Vietnam began public operations at the end of February, 2008.

Amway One By One - Where Life Gets Better Part 9.Volunteering on the beach.The best way to teach kids about protecting the environment is to take them out into it! In Taiwan, over 200 Amway employees and their families volunteered to clean up the Wa Zai Wei Nature Reserve, the river outlet of Tamsui River in the north of Taiwan, in September. They organized the project in partnership with the Society of Wilderness.Amway employees and their family members had the opportunity to not only clean up the area, but observe and experience the natural ecology of the area, hosted by Society of Wilderness representatives.At the end of the day, the group collected 300 kg of litter from the wetlands.

Amway One By One - Where Life Gets Better Part 8. Nutrilite – AC Milan Sports Center Opens.October marked the official opening of the new Nutrilite-AC Milan sports center in Pagliare di Sassa near Abruzzo, Italy. The sports center was funded in part by the Amway Goal by Goal partnership with Ronaldinho.During the 2009-2010 season, Amway donated $10,000 for every goal that Ronaldinho scored. Little did we know he would be so productive … 15 goals! More than 350 people attended the opening events, including Massimo Ambrosini, Franco Baresi and Daniele Massaro from AC Milan, Giovanni Chiodi, President of the Abruzzo region and Massimo Cialente, Mayor of L‘Aquila.

Amway One By One - Where Life Gets Better Part 7. Teaming up with the Magic in Orlando. How many people can actually say that they helped build a playground in a day? Now, I can. And even gained new friends along the way. On April 8, Amway One by One and the Orlando Magic partnered with KaBOOM! to build a playground in the Orlando community, so kids in the neighborhood have a great space to play.At the beginning of the day, all the volunteers gathered around the stage to hear the project leader tell us about the build. She said that by the end of the day, we would have a beautiful, functional playground.

At first, I was apprehensive about getting it all done. But, it didn’t take long to realize that it wouldn’t be a problem. Volunteers rolled up their sleeves and immediately got to work. Between shoveling dirt, painting murals, assembling jungle gyms and laying down pavement, the playground came to fruition right before our eyes. By 2:00 in the afternoon, the playground was … well, a playground.This former patch of dirt will now host the energies and imaginations of many, many children. And I’m so happy to have been a part of it!

Amway One By One - Where Life Gets Better Part 6. Dolphin therapy. For some, swimming with dolphins is a tourist attraction, but for some students in Japan, it has become an important part of growing up.Amway supports a program that brings 40 high school students from a Tokyo foster home to a southern island, a five-hour ship ride away from the mainland. There, the students spend four weeks engaging with the island and their surroundings.

Created for troubled students, this program helps build relationships, self-confidence, trust and independence. Through their time with the dolphins and their experiences on the island, the students are able to build relationships with each other and better understand.While on the island, the students spend a majority of their time swimming with dolphins, exploring the island, and experiencing the scenery. For these students, the experience is more than a vacation. It will shape their identity as they return to their schools, their homes, and their futures.

Amway One By One - Where Life Gets Better Part 5. Ronaldinho Scores $120,000 for kids! Here’s a recap – - As a global spokesperson for the Amway One by One Campaign for Children, Ronaldinho earns $10,000 USD for children’s charities for each goal he scores through NUTRILITE’s Goal by Goal program during the 2009/2010 season.

What does this mean? The proceeds have been earmarked to build a sports center for children near the city of L’Aquila, which was devastated by a massive earthquake hit in Spring of 2009. The ground breaking ceremony and placing of the cornerstone of the sports center was celebrated in October 2009.Now the update!! Topping last year’s charitable donation of $100,000, with 11 goals in Italy this season, plus a ceremonial donation to kick start the program, Ronaldinho generated $120,000, allowing children affected by the earthquake in L’Aquila return to a sense of normalcy through their favorite sport.

Amway One By One - Where Life Gets Better Part 4.

 According to UNICEF, the challenge is to transform handwashing with soap from an abstract good idea into an automatic behavior performed in homes, schools and communities worldwide. Turning handwashing with soap before eating and after using the toilet into an ingrained habit could save more lives than any single vaccine or medical intervention, cutting deaths from diarrhea by almost half and deaths from acute respiratory infections by one-quarter.

In Norway, Amway invited business owners, employees and customers to participate in a 10km run in Sentrumsløbet to raise money for UNICEF. These efforts raised 35,000 Krone (US $5,700) for schools in Africa. Amway Norway provided goodie bags to the best runners in each class to keep motivation high, while Amway volunteers helped to manage the starting and finishing lines.

On July 25, Amway made the list of the “Corporate Social Responsibility Top 50” published by the Hurun Research Institute in Shanghai. Amway was recognized for its contributions to disaster relief, children’s philanthropy and environmental protection.The candidates were from the top 500 corporations and the Fortune 500 in China. The criteria included corporate social responsibility leadership including transparency (25%), charitable donations (25%), taxes paid (12.5%), number of employees (12.5%), employee management (12.5%) and environment protection (12.5%). Amway was the sole winner in the direct selling industry.Congratulations to our friends in China, and all the great programs that support our local communities and demonstrate the values this company was founded on.

During the 2012 Chinese New Year, a group of volunteers helped the world of some elementary students become brighter … literally!Two elementary schools in Qiujiadian Village in Tai’an expressed their wishes for brighter classrooms to improve the learning environment.Volunteers from the Amway Shandong Branch heard about the wishes, and raised money to install new dust-free blackboards with fluorescent lamps for all ten classrooms in the school.The volunteers themselves donated 18,000 yen ($2,800 US) and another 95,000 yen ($15,000) from the community.

Operation Smile works with local doctors and contributors to provide free reconstructive facial surgeries. Amway has found a great partner in Operation Smile over the years. We’ve supported missions in Thailand, China, South Africa and Vietnam over the years The Amway for Thai Society Foundation has organized 13 missions that treated nearly 1,500 children. Amway Vietnam has organized 5 missions and treated more than 500 children. Amway China helped develop media advertising to promote Operation Smile missions and Amway South Africa provides oral care products along with monetary support.

AMWAY PARENT SURPASSES USD$10.9 BILLION IN SALES



Direct selling leader generates double-digit growth in 2011

ADA, Mich. – February 23, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — Amway parent company, Alticor Inc., announced global sales exceeding USD$10.9 billion for the year ended December 31, 2011.

The results represent 17 percent growth over 2010 annual sales of USD$9.2 billion. This is the sixth consecutive year of growth for the company, which has posted sales increases 11 out of the past 12 years.

Amway grows in nine of top 10 markets

Nine of the top 10 markets for Amway, including China, India, Korea, Malaysia, Russia, Thailand, Taiwan, Ukraine and the United States, reported strong sales increases. Japan recorded flat sales in the difficult period following the March 11, 2011 earthquake and tsunami. Markets posting double-digit increases in 2011 include China, India, Korea, Taiwan, Turkey and Vietnam, plus the Latin American region.

With more than 50 years of experience, Amway now holds the top spot in direct selling in key markets like China, India, Japan and Thailand, and is a recognized leader in the industry globally. Reflecting 2011’s substantial gain, Amway has increased overall market share to more than 10 percent.

Amway Malaysia News

Amway (M) Holdings Bhd has set four goals this year to strengthen its retail network, increase distributorship among the youth, launch nine new products and delve further into the Malay market. Executive director Paul Yee said the company would continue to focus on increasing its brand and product accessibility through its retail network strategy across Malaysia.Amway plans to open another retail outlet in addition to its existing 16 nationwide. “We are looking at a few areas outside the Klang Valley,” he said. There are also plans to convert more regional distribution centres into retail outlets. Last year, two was converted and Yee said the company planned to convert three or four this year. Amway has nine regional distribution centres in the country.

Yee said that currently, about a third of Amway's 232,000 core distributors were under 35 years old and that this Generation Y was key to its business continuity. A core distributor is a person who has been with Amway for at least one year. The multi-level marketing company also plans to introduce nine new products.“There will be six new products from the beauty line and one each from the home care, personal care and nutrition segments. Beauty and health food contribute more than 50% to our revenue and we aim to maintain that figure,” he said. Yee said the company was also sourcing for more products that would appeal to the Malay community.“Product is one of the ways (to tap the Malay market). We also go through our distributors in sponsoring new members and sharing the business opportunity. Thirdly is by holding more training and events that cater to this group,” he said.

The company last year introduced incentives for Malay distributors who have hit their sales target to opt for either cash reward or an umrah trip. Yee said that Amway had been consciously penetrating the Malay market since two years ago, creating brand awareness on media platforms like talk shows and radio programmes that were targeted at this group. Currently, the Malay market contributes about 20% to the company's sales. In its 2011 financial year, Amway revenue rose 2.3% to RM735.8mil from RM719.4mil previously while profit after tax was up 14.9% to RM90mil from RM78.3mil. This year, Yee said Amway aimed for a single-digit growth in revenue.

He said the company had allocated RM70mil for advertising and promotion over the next three years. In a filing with Bursa Malaysia last week, Amway said it would adopt a new dividend payout ratio, rewarding shareholders with a minimum of 80% of net earnings on a quarterly basis. The company now has cash totalling RM120mil.
