Sri Petaling is a suburb that is located at the south of Kuala Lumpur, is just next to Bukit Jalil, the national sports township where the Commonwealth Games was held in 1998. Sri Petaling has come a long way from its humble beginnings of being a rubber plantation until it was first developed in 1981 to become an almost modern township today. Sri Petaling swiftly developed into one of the most populated areas in Kuala Lumpur in the last 10 years or so, with property prices increasing speedily as well. This suburb was first developed in 1981; before this, there was a rubber plantation there. From the mid 1980s to the mid 1990s it was widely-known as the 'rubbish area' as it was the location of a landfill site. Garbage disposal was discontinued and the land it had occupied turned into a playground and car park area for the 1998 Commonwealth Games
Location
Sri Petaling near Salak South, Happy Garden, Kuchai Lama it takes less than half an hour to arrive at Putrajaya, Cyberjaya, the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) or Sepang International Circuit (the venue for Formula One Malaysian Grand Prix), about 20 minutes to reach Petaling Jaya, Damansara or Shah Alam, 10 minutes to Subang and Puchong and 30 minutes to Klang.Excellent location, easy access to all major highways e.g. seremban highway, federal highway, KL-putrajaya, KESAS, MRR2, NPE, LDP.
Transportation
There is local bus service as well as the Sri Petaling and Bukit Jalil LRT station for public transportation to move around. Sri Petaling is the last stop for the STAR LRT Sri Petaling line. The Shah Alam Expressway was opened in 1997, allowing people to take around 10 minutes of travel time to reach the Subang Jaya area. The opening of this Expressway contributed to the rapid growth in Sri Petaling. It is also possible to get to Sri Petaling from the city centre within 10 minutes drive, via the Kuala Lumpur-Putrajaya Expressway.
Population and Residential Areas
In the early 1980s, the population in the Sri Petaling area was not so high due to its distance from Kuala Lumpur. When two access routes that connect to Salak South and Happy Garden opened in the 1980s, the population began to grow. Development continued over the course of the next decade, especially housing areas that were developed fast across the highway from the Bukit Jalil area, causing population to grow as well.
Jalan Puteri, Jalan Wan Empok 1 and Jalan Wan Empok 2 were the three areas of Sri Petaling that were first developed for residential use and became the main areas of population in the 1980s. Large apartment buildings/condominiums have been built, namely Endah Villa, Endah Regal, Endah Puri and Endah Ria. Other residential areas in Sri Petaling include Petaling Indah Condominium and Villa Mewah, another high-rise building.
Facilities and Amenities
There are several educational institutions in Sri Petaling, from kindergartens to primary schools (Sekolah Sri Petaling) and secondary schools (SMK Bandar Baru Seri Petaling and SMK Seri Saujana).

Broga hill, also known as 'Bukit Lalang' where the entrance trail starts from an oil palm estate facing a rabbit park across the road. Its easy accessibility means that there are many visitors on the weekend. As far as nature is concerned, the hill is composed mostly of lalang grass while some lower areas are covered with palm oil trees or young secondary forest. Squirrels and birds such as swifts are common sights around these parts.

Christmas day 25th Dec 2012 (Tuesday) Canaan Baptist Church shared a story about the true love. A pregnancy mother's true love sacrifice her life to save her baby.
Mother Lorraine Allard sacrificed her life by refusing cancer treatment so her premature baby would live. Four months into her pregnancy, Lorraine Allard was devastated to learn she was in the advanced stages of cancer.Doctors advised her to have an abortion and start chemotherapy straight away.Instead, with steadfast courage, she insisted on waiting long enough to give her unborn son a chance to survive, telling her husband Martyn: “If I am going to die, my baby is going to live.”
Christmas carols in English first appear in a 1426 work of John Awdlay, a Shropshire chaplain, who lists twenty-five "caroles of Cristemas", probably sung by groups of wassailers, who went from house to house. The songs we know specifically as carols were originally communal folk songs sung during celebrations such as "harvest tide" as well as Christmas. It was only later that carols began to be sung in church.
